Sorry for the late reply!! I missed this post.. Hope you had a great time at the Nashville Camp!! I think those camps are great even though you might not be at a level to play everything that the guitarists are teaching.. It will most likely be a wonderful inspirational experience too! Depending on the style, I'd say that the most important thing to learn is to get the thumb more independent from your fingers when it comes to rhythms. Check out the free lessons "Fingerstyle Basics", and then move on to some blues lessons!
Kind regards/Emil

Hi!
Have you experimented with different brands of strings? Certain strings bring out the best of the instrument, and it's great to try different types of strings and brands to hear what strings work the best for that particular instrument. If it sounds boxy, I'd definitely think it would brighten up with the right kind of new strings.

Hi!
I sometimes indicate the slide symbol up to a certain note with a line that doesn't particularly say from what exact note to slide from. The reason is that it varies so much. I might slide from a half step below sometimes, and other times from a whole step below or more. So in the TAB that you're speaking of, you don't see what note I'm sliding from in the TAB. But you hear me explain it when I go through the example.
Hi Jack!

There are many brands that build amazing world class instruments. I've tried some guitars that are considered
some of the best guitars ever made - and some of them I didn't like at all, because they didn't fit my playing style, didn't feel
right in my hands and didn't produce a sound that I liked. But I have colleges that play that exact guitar - and it sounds amazing
and feels amazing in their hands. All about taste and feel just like strings etc.
Asking who makes the best acoustic guitars in the world is kind of like asking who makes the best music in the world.. It's up
to you what you like - and I always suggest for someone who looks for a new guitar to try as many instruments as possible.
The guitar that you just don't want to stop playing - that's the one! :)

I'd say it's not about price either, because there are certain guitars that have a sound and/or a feel that just makes you want
to keep playing it, but the guitar doesn't necessarily cost a lot at all.

But this is just my humble opinion and I'd love to hear what other people think about this subject!

Thanks for asking about this Jack!!

The F# major is not as easy to find open string ideas that work well since the open string are E A D G B E, which are notes outside of the F# chord tonality. But there are definitely ways to find good sounding lines over that chord when using the open strings as passing notes. The best thing is to experiment with it a lot and I'm sure you will find ideas that sound great! The B harmonic minor scale is a cool one to try out.

The Bm chord is easier to find open string ideas that will sound good. Try using the D major (or B minor, same notes) tonality and find descending and ascending lines.
I don't have a specific line to share that I can think of at the moment, but whenever I practice a specific tune or so, I find ideas myself by just experimenting!

Kind regards/E

Hi there!

Let's take Cmaj7 as an example to demonstrate this.

Cmaj7 has 4 notes,
C, E, G, B

Cmaj7 root position, would have the C note in the bass.
For example: C, E, G, B.
The order of the rest of the notes (all the notes except the bass note, C) doesn't really matter how you voice them, as long as you have the C note played as the bottom note.

If we'd play a Cmaj7 chord 1st in version, then the 3rd would be in the bass. 3rd meaning major 3rd of the chord, which is the note E.
For example: E, B, C, G. (as you can see, the 3rd (E) is now played as the bottom note. The rest of the notes, B, C and G can be voiced in any order that you like and that is physically manageable on the guitar. Some voicing that are really easy on piano might be really difficult on the guitar, because of how the instrument works/tuning etc.

If we were to play Cmaj7 in the 2nd inversion, that would be playing the 5th in the bass (meaning 5th of the chord - which is the note G).
For example: G, C, E, B.

And finally, the 3rd inversion is playing the 7th in the bass..
For example: B, E, G, C...

Like I mentioned above.. the order of the rest of the notes is all up to you. The main thing you need to learn is that
Root position means playing the chord with the root in the bass
1st inversion means that we play the 3rd in the bass
2nd inversion means that we play the 5th in the bass
3rd inversion means that we play the 7th in the bass.

Let me know if you have any further questions! I'm always happy to help!
Kind regards/Emil

You could look into Evo frets if you can live with the gold color. They are not as hard as stainless steel but much harder than traditional frets.
