A question on developing speed. I recently joined your site with an annual subscription. You are an outstanding guitarist! I have just started learning the i-p-m fingerpicking technique and it feels strange. I also need to buy a thumbpick. What thickness pick would you recommend and any suggestions for my developing your blistering picking speed? I don't think my brain can process that quickly. LOL I played your first 2 open string licks at half speed and can barely keep up. Tack.

Just worked my way through the Cycle Solo and can more or less keep up at 1/2 speed. I posted a question regarding technique on a particular passage in the piece in another post. Cheers.

Really happy to hear that you dig the lessons Doug!
What are you working on at the moment when it comes to practicing guitar?
Kind regards/Emil

Yes, I stumbled upon the RH technique lessons and have been working on them too. I still need to purchase a couple of thumb picks and grow my i, m & a fingernails a tad more. :) You have some fantastic instructional material here and I have been able to increase the tempo quite a bit from where I started. Awesome course. I'll leave some good comments on FB! Doug

Hi Doug!
Thank you for the question!

The i p m-technique is really tricky in the beginning but it will get easier! :)

Did you check out the lesson "Right Hand Technique" yet?
In that lesson, we dig deep into the right hand picking patterns and how I use slides, hammer-ons and pull-offs. I usually alternate between thumb (thumbpick) and index finger for single line soloing, but there are exceptions, and it's not super "logical" always - haha! :) I try to explain it the best way I can in that lesson!

I use golden gate medium thumb picks, and I think they are the best on the market for me. The dunlop mediums are fairly similar.

Have a great day Doug, and let me know if I can help in any way!
Kind regards/Emil
