    Chord issues with pinky

This is going to be a hard one to explain and hammer out the tried and have not so I apologize in advance but hope someone can/is interested enough to help. There are certain shapes where my pinky wants to go on it's side almost fitting into the groove of the side of me pinky. This is not necessarily wide shapes. I've even gone as far as to place my pinky in the proper place using my other hand only for it to go back to there. No pain in moving it so the string is at the tip but it does not want to come down on the string as such.

This does not happen when playing single notes nor does it when I play solos or sweep picking. This issue has led me to neglect more complicated chord work and really working on my chord chops for the last 19 years as every time I try this issue arises.

Lately I have been messing with different thumb/palm positionings and an progressing but I feel as though there is a technique that will get me more consistency through practice I am missing.

At a bit of a loss here but I'm determined to fix this issue and get to playing some sweet sad jazz tunes (currently working on a rendition of my funny Valentine).

        Thanks for your question Kenneth!
Would you mind posting a picture of the left hand grabbing a chord that makes your pinky want to go on its side? This would help me in understanding what the problem might be.
        Kind regards/Emil

This is not my hand but the thing going on with the pinky here is exactly the issue I have with chords. alt text

Mind blowing discovery! Thumb pressure needs to be near nil. Any thumb pressure restricts my ability to correct it's curve! Leaving this here in case anyone needs this.
