      Hi Emil,

would you please one day make a lesson on how to reharmonize a song from scratch (without even using a lead sheet) from a simple chord-melody to a sophisticated arrangement with chord substitutions.
Best regards and a big thank you for your wonderfull lessons!

      Kavi

        Hi there!

        That's a great lesson suggestion! :)

Have you seen our lesson "Arranging for fingerstyle guitar", when I talk about arranging "Amazing grace"? If you haven't, I'd suggest to check out that lesson cause I'm talking about the steps I'm going through when I'm arranging any song.
Also, the free YouTube lesson when I'm arranging "Summertime" might also be of interest, or these three YouTube-videos called "Diatonic chord substitution", "Reharmonization: Back Cycling" and "Secondary dominants & flat five substitutions" :)

And by the way, I'm uploading a new YouTube video this coming week where I arrange just a few bars of a famous Christmas song in 6 different levels, hope you'll like that too!

        Kind regards/Emil

          Hi Emil,

thanks a lot for your answer!

Your "Arranging for fingerstyle guitar" has been a great inspiration to me! And I am definitely going to check out all of your suggestions.
I was talking about may be something basic in arrangement. Like when you hear a tune and try to find out first a reharmonized basic chord structure then a simple reharmonized chord melody all by ear without ever looking into the "official" notation of the song.

          Best regards,

          Kavi.

P.S. Those series of videos with songs (like "Yesterday") played in severel levels are invaluable for us! We can see the whole prossess of guitar arrangement from inside out. As for me I can not get enough of those :)

            Hi!
Good suggestion! I will think about a lesson on that subject, a more "ear training"-based lesson on arranging a song. Lookout for a fun YouTube lesson later today! :)
            Kind regards/E
