Hi there! I am interested to know which thumb pick you use for your technique. I use a normal plectrum and think I am limiting the potential use of my other fingers by doing so!

        Hi!
Sorry for my late reply Nat!

I use a thumb pick called "Golden Gate" mediums. They are very similar to the dunlop medium picks, but they fit my thumb a bit better and last a bit longer I believe.

A normal plectrum has both advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on what technique you choose to focus on. Some players can do both though, lick for instance Tommy Emmanuel. A straight pick is great for strumming and if you're a good alternate picker, then it's a good choice, but for fingerstyle it can be a great thing to try out a thumb picks since it will be easier to play fingerstyle songs once you've learned how to use the thumb picks.

When I play single lines, I ususally use my thumb and index finger (alternating between those), and that's how I built my technique. Many people have asked for a lesson on my right hand technique and I'll definitely do that as soon as I can.

I made (free) youtube video on the thumb pick topic, check it out here:

        have a great day Nat!
        Kind regards/Emil
