My name is Rodger; I live in Norman, Oklahoma, with my wife Jenny, our two blue heelers, and our pound puppy. I'm a retired band director who has taught instrumental music in Okla public schools for 25 years. I'm also a Vietnam Veteran, USMC, I know, sort of a strange combo. Although the guitar was my first love, it always seemed to get seconds in my musical life. I was the kid in the HS band that the director "used" when he needed an instrument played. I was a tenor sax player in our University Jazz Ensembles. Then, teaching took ALL of my time. So when I retired, it was guitar time. I have a strong theory background and am doing my best to catch up on guitar technique. I play a lot. I learned of Emil through a luthier in Ardmore Ok who builds Travis guitars (check them out). What a fantastic talent and teacher we've all found. I just joined today. It's 1 AM here, and I plan on listening to a couple more lessons. So..... I'm grateful, thankful, overjoyed, and thrilled to have discovered this community. I hope to hear a lot of great players here. Thanks, keep the spirit!

Hello fellow guitar lovers,
-
Hello to all from Norman, Oklahoma.
I'm likely the newest Emil fan here. While searching for "Have Yourself
A Merr Little Christmas" arrangements I ran across a new name, or at least it was to me. (I often find myself behind the eight ball in life, sigh). What an inspiration you and your amazing guitar playing are young man. I'm pretty sure what I'll be doing for the rest of my life. Thank you for the joy of listening and marveling to you play, your personable teaching, your exquisite arrangements and your inspiration. Man, do I have a lot of work to do, better get a guitar in my hands! Again, much thanks and much love.
