Arrangment Advice
Hey!
I'm looking to take several steps backwards. Rather than learn Emil's more advanced arrangements, I want to learn dozens of melodies/songs and have a process of arranging with different feels. Also be able to take them in all keys and all over the neck.
Ex. Take the melody of a pop song. Play it with just bass lines, then add to the bass, add rhythm ect. I can learn melodies and chords by ear it just struggle to arrange it into something.
Any advice on how to approach this or course recommendations? Teachers?
Thanks,

Simple Melodies
Hey!
Sorry if this was a double post. I want to take several steps back with fingerstyle guitar. I want to take dozens of simple melodies/songs (like nursery rhymes) and arrange them in all keys. So when I hear a new melody I have a few ways of arranging on the spot. For now I just want to take these simple melodies and play them with chords in a handful of different styles (just root 3rd and 5th for now). Is there a resource that teaches this? Something like take mary had a little lamb and do it boom chick style, then just bass notes with the melody, then maybe arpeggios in the bass line with the melody ect.
Thanks

Nursery Rhymes - Simple Chords
Hey Emil!
I want to take several steps back with fingerstyle guitar. I'm going to start taking simple nursery rhymes and play them finger style with chord changes (no 7ths, just root 3rd, 5th).
I have no problem figuring out these chords and melodies. But I want some arrangement ideas that I should be comfortable with. I want to be able to take hundreds of simple melodies and be able to play it in different ways. For now still just root, 3rd, 5th. I'm thinking like, for example, mary had a little lamb. Should I be able to play that boomchick style? Maybe just play root notes for the bass line? Melody arpeggios in the bass line? Where can I go to learn this simple approaches?

Emil - How Do You Master A Song?
Hey Emil,
I want to be able to master songs. It seems like to get to a pro level (from what I read) is to practice and master little things at a time. Let's use your Autumn leaves, right when the boom chick starts on the E. Sure I can play this part but I can't play as clean and I make more mistakes as you. Also if I had to play it live I would probably choke and freeze. I want to get past this. I think it's because I just rely on muscle memory.
Is the following a good approach? Focus on the boom chick part, just E to Amin. I'm going to just play the bass and sing the note names. As I sing them visualize the fretboard in my head with the note names above it. Do this for 5 mins. Then just play the melody part (sing and visualize the note names). Time 5 mins. Do this with a metronome at 40-50bpm. When I put the bass and melody together, should simultaneously be able to visualize the notes for the bass and melody? Is this type of practice the best way to get to a pro level?

Autumn Leaves By Emil
Hey!
Question about Emil's Autumn leaves arrangement. It's about chord selection. So after the rubato part and right where he gets to the boom chick part. He plays an E7. I'm learning the song on piano and at this part of the song it's a Bm7b5 to E7 to Am7 (minor 2-5-1). Emil is playing a E7 to E7 to Am7 (minor 5-5-1). Is this a common alternative way to play this? (i.e. using 2-5-1 interchangeably with 5-5-1)
Second question is shortly after he goes to the Cmaj7. On piano, the part goes Cmaj7 to Fmaj7 to Bm7b5 to E7 to Am. Or 1-4 to minor 2 -5-1. But Emil does Cmaj7 to Cmaj7 to E7 to E7 to Amin7. Is this another harmonic simplification? (i.e the 1-4 can usually be simplified to 1 - 1. Also here again it looks like he is simplifying a minor 2-5-1 to a 5-5-1.
Am I on the right track here? I'm trying to not just be able to play the song but understand it, know the notes, sing the melodies....ect. So I can make my own arrangements some day.
Thanks!

New Guitar Help - Maton Artist
Hello!
I'm trying to get to a high level on guitar. I'm ready to buy a high-end acoustic. All the acoustic players that I want to play like seem to play some sort of Maton. I don't want to buy a guitar that has someone else's name on it (I.e. Emmanuel, Robinson, ...) but want a similar sound. It looks like Emil plays a Maton Artist. I'm thinking of buying the EBG 808 Artist. Problem is my country doesn't sell it so I'd be buying it without trying. Does Emil have the Artist? I've seen his with and without a cutaway. Any big different between cutaway and no cutaway? Am I crazy to buy the Artist without trying it?
Thanks!
