  I’ve been a member of Emil’s course for a few months now, but I hadn’t taken the time to properly introduce myself yet… So here I am!

  My name is Julien, I’m a French fingerstyle guitarist and I’ve always been passionate about music that speaks directly to the heart.

  Discovering Emil’s teaching has been a real turning point for me. His way of breaking down complex techniques with clarity, kindness, and musicality is truly inspiring.

  I want to sincerely thank you, Emil, for the high quality and generosity of your lessons. They’ve reignited my motivation and pushed me to go deeper, with more precision and intention.

  @emilernebro Really enjoying the recordings of this one on the Nordic Traditions album, as well as Den Blomstertid Nu Kommer

  Been trying to figure them out and have gotten pretty close with Blott en Dag (G6 tuning capo 2) and now working on Den Blomstertid Nu Kommer (E). It's challenging but with the Youtube videos they sound/look really close to recording and helps ton.

  There's one part on Blott en Dag I'm struggling with on the B part starting from the Bm. Wondering if you could share the chord voicing there?

  Best I've gotten is: Bm, E7, G#dim, (don't know what to call this one, but the notes are G-F-B-D?), then it goes into the F#m for the last line.

  I believe that the 7-string guitar should have the same range as the 8-string and 10-string guitars. This can be achieved by tuning the seventh string to A. In 8-string guitars, the tuning would be A and D, and in 10-string guitars, A, B, C, and D.

  The seventh string can also be tuned to G if we are going to play in C, as in the Prelude BWV 846 from the Well-Tempered Clavier.

  What the title says :)

  I would like to move from my Strat to something that's a little more mellow. I don't want to look for an Epiphone/Gibson 335 because Gibson quality so variable and they've gotten so hostile to other manufacturers. Collings 35 are super nice but insanely expensive.

  So was thinking maybe a Tele with a bigsby (I think Emil is playing Ashton clone with a Bigsby on some videos perhaps?). But I really want to avoid single coils for this guitar.

  So maybe too many requirements, but if anyone has ideas would appreciate it. I usually play clean so really rely on the guitar itself for most of the tone and feel.

  When you see gear for sale, especially pedals, with someone accepting "reasonable offers" how do you usually gauge that? People seem to oscillate from "not a dollar less" to "half price.

  Hey Emil...I was going back through some of your older YT vids and watched "Dream a Little Dream of Me" where you use a D'Angelico EXL-1. I have the same guitar and would like to know what string gauge you use. Mine currently has D'Addario XL Chromes 10-14-20w-28-38-48. Or, if anyone else reads this...what do you suggest?   Hello,
  I wonder if this is a lap or pedal steel guitar that the soloist plays?:
  On other records of this artist the soloist is posing with lap steel, so possibly it could be that. But I am not sure, I am totally a beginner in steel guitars.
  Sometimes the solo consist of simple melodic patterns lacking slides, like from 2:58 to 3:20
  Does the soloist play it on the steel guitar, too?
  If someone is an expert on these, could he guess the tuning?

  So- am semi-new to guitar building and completely new to the forum! My first kit was an SG-type 12/6 double neck. didn't come out great but not awful either and sounds ok. It has glued/epoxied in necks. Just recently acquired a strat kit. Of course it's got a bolt-in neck. Am a bit apprehensive to drill the 4 holes and twist in the screws- worrying if the neck might crack. It must happen now and then although I've never seen it. My other question IS- I haven't checked the frets and neck with a rocker or gauge yet but in the event the frets need leveling - is it fine to do that before drilling the neck fastening holes as long as the neck fits snugly in the pocket? Hope this wasn't confusing-

  Hi there!

  I’m using two microphones, and usually it’s a couple of Neumann TLM 102.
  From there I go into a simple preamp/daw which is called steinberg UR44. I use an iMac with protools.
  When I record I have one mic around the 12th fret and one mic on the bridge.
  In any recording software program like protools or similar, you can pan the channels right and left - and I usually pan one mic around 35 to the left and 35 to the right.
  I do a simple eq mix where I usually cut a bit of bass and get rid of a couple of harsh frequencies in the upper midrange etc. maybe boost the highs a bit on the bridge mic.
  And I add reverb to both channels.
  Very simple recording process and I don’t do much at all really, just two mics and a bit of work with eq and then add reverb.

  The problem may be the mono cable or jack that you are using. Try using a different mono cable or jack and see if that helps. If not, it may be a problem with the wiring or circuitry of the guitar itself. You may need to take the guitar to a professional repair shop to have it looked at.
