How should I make the pull off cleaner?

And here I had one little problem when I practice.

when I pull off I use my middle finger, Like the example below, I will do pull off at the B string from fret 5 to 3

E -----------------------------
B -------3--5----------------
G -----------------------------
D -----------------------------
A -----------------------------
E -----------------------------

and I always touch the E string and have slightly noise of E sound, cannot make it clean;

I searched for some answers for this problem, here are:

• mute the E string using the index finger
• gently touch the E string and mute E string use the pull-off finger when doing the pull-off stuff
• neither, practice a lot and always pay attention try not to touch neither of string and never mute any string unless you want to.

I got confused about these three solutions and maybe you have better ideas?

Hi!

When I make a pull off like that, I mute the e string with my left hand index finger. I do it without thinking about it, and it will become something you do without thinking about it if you’ve done it enough times.
