    • RE: Music theory

      Hi Tho,
      that‘s a big topic I guess.
I‘ve studied a lot of theory but all of my books are in german, so that wouldn‘t be helpfull.
First of all you have to answer what‘s your goal?
In my opinion you have to learn at first what is triad and common intervalls.

There are a bunch of good tutorials on yt. Go and check out stuff from Jeff Schneider and Aimee Nolte.

On the other hand you can open up a theory thread here on proguitar. While you are learning you can ask specific questions and we can help you to develop a good theory background.

      Cheers, Florian

    • RE: Arranging jazz standards.

      Hi Kirill,
what kind of arranging do you mean?
      Rhythm playing?
      Do you have theory background?

I learned Emils walking bass slap chord thing the last weeks.
      You can find it here:
Guitar Lesson from Emil Ernebro - Walking Bass Lines Technique – 26:04
      — Emil Ernebro

He explains a good way to find walking bass lines combining with chordrhythm. So you can use it on every tune you want.

I tried it on "Swing 42" of Django and "All of me".
      So much fun.

      Cheers, Florian

    • Frets of the guitar

      Hey everyone,

I think my Maton SRS 808 need some new frets and here comes the question.
I‘m playing a lot of fingerstyle, jazz and improvisation with it and I‘m not sure which kind of frets are better for me, my playing and my guitar. Jumbo frets, narrow frets? Which kond of material? Steel? What do you guys think about that?

And do you have any tips or advices of fileing it down?
I use the standard dunlop brown series. But I guess they are a bit too long.

    • Scale practicing

      Hey guys,
right now I'm very into scale parcticing. I found a very good youtube video with a clever way to practice those.

GUITAR SCALES: How to practice guitar scales effectively – 10:35
      — GuitarVersum Sandra Sherman

She tought it to play through all 12 keys in the order of the circle of fourth.
It seems logic to me but I'm not sure if this is the exact right way.

What do you guys think about it?

      @emilernebro Looking foward to that.
I've downloaded your open licks lesson. Incredibly good. A huge compliment for your comments of playing those. It should gets more of these kind of instrutions in guitar notation.
Keep on doing great work mate.

You should come to germany and play some shows over here. Let me know if I can help you out for that.
