Hi Emil,
I've been away for awhile, but I came across your beautiful arrangement of BOTW on YouTube. Do you have that as a lesson? My wife would love for me to learn it.
Thanks.
Doug

@emilernebro Just returned from a trip and catching up on posts. Thanks for those suggestions. I had listened to a couple of Jerry's performances on Youtube and am quite impressed with his guitar style. LOL, I bet half the population doesn't realize he was a very accomplished guitarist as well as being a movie actor in some Burt Reynolds movies.

@emilernebro Thanks for your answer regarding my question. I just changed strings and still have the same results. I believe it is my fat fingers and perhaps callouses on them causing the overtones. I'll just have to try out different muting options...
Doug
@emilernebro LOL, I was wondering if that was a solution before you posted this. I'll have to try it. Thanks.

@emilernebro Hi again Emil,
I am all the way through The Cycle Solo and need to pick it up to 3/4 speed. Also just starting on the Squirrel Chase Rag. That'll be another "handful"! I like your phrasing and the way you blend chords with notes for those catchy tunes. I could use some guidance on how to use that technique for my own creativity.
Cheers,
Doug
Hi all,
I've been playing guitar for many years noodling around (fortunately for me and others I don't rely on my playing "skills" to keep food on the table) but this site is the best and most comprehensive one I've seen so far to help me break through the level I've been stuck on. Emil is a very skilled player and patient teacher and I embark on this journey hoping to become a much better finger picker!
Doug
@jim-0 I used to play without a thumbpick but have started doing so since signing up for these lessons. I'm getting better at it and my accuracy seems to be improving. You might want to give it a try. My 1-4 fingernails seem to take longer to grow and are getting weaker as I age. That's another issue... :)

@emilernebro I am working on Banjo Rolls. Just worked my way through the Cycle Solo and can more or less keep up at 1/2 speed. I posted a question regarding technique on a particular passage in the piece in another post. Cheers.

Hi Emil,
Well I have struggled all the way through your Cycle Solo at 145 bpm and I have a quick question. On page 11 measure 11, when I lift my little finger off of the F# note the open B string rings in a discordant manner. I have tried muting the 2nd string with the 3rd finger holding down the D note on the 3rd string, but that leaves then very little time to transition to the D note on the 2nd string, 3rd fret. Any suggestions how to correct this? I watched you play it and you do it effortlessly without any stray notes! Thanks
Doug
@emilernebro Thanks for your response, Emil! Yes, I stumbled upon the RH technique lessons and have been working on them too. I still need to purchase a couple of thumb picks and grow my i, m & a fingernails a tad more. :) You have some fantastic instructional material here and I have been able to increase the tempo quite a bit from where I started. Awesome course. I'll leave some good comments on FB! Doug
Hej Emil. A question on developing speed. I recently joined your site with an annual subscription. You are an outstanding guitarist! I have just started learning the i-p-m fingerpicking technique and it feels strange. I also need to buy a thumbpick. What thickness pick would you recommend and any suggestions for my developing your blistering picking speed? I don't think my brain can process that quickly. LOL I played your first 2 open string licks at half speed and can barely keep up. Tack.
